The Mermaid class is a 23.0ft fractional sloop designed by E. Farnham Butler/Theodore Earl and built in wood cedar planked over white oak frames by Mount Desert Yacht Yard between 1947 and 1963.

The Mermaid class is a heavy sailboat which is a good performer. It is very stable / stiff and has an excellent righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a day-boat.
