The Controversy 31 is a light sailboat which is a reasonably good performer. It is not stiff and has an excellent righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a heavy bluewater cruising boat.
Despite its low score, this boat is ranked in the top quarter. It seems difficult to do much better. It is one of the best possible tradeoffs for this request.
